DPR Customer Service: (202) 673-7647
(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, June 28, Mayor Bowser’s DC Department of Parks and Recreation will celebrate Senior Fest, an annual picnic bringing together thousands of District seniors to enjoy free food, live entertainment, music, health exhibits, board games and guest speakers. The event is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oxon Run Park.
“As Washington, DC continues to grow, we are committed to ensuring that our seniors have the resources and support they need to live active, connected, healthy, and engaged lives across all eight wards,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “In addition to hosting fantastic events like Senior Fest, we will continue to invest in programs like Safe at Home that help our seniors age in place in the city and neighborhoods they call home.”
Since taking office in 2015, Mayor Bowser has launched a range of innovative initiatives that support the city’s senior residents, including launching Safe at Home, a program that helps seniors age in place, and Age-Friendly DC – a coordinated, comprehensive, and collective effort that helps residents stay active and healthy.
