South Capitol Street Corridor Construction Testing

(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) advises residents that construction testing activities for the South Capitol Street Corridor will cause excessive  noise levels on the river and in the area of the bridge construction site.

The contractor will perform a pipe pile axial load test in the river that will produce a large boom noise sometime between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm on Monday, July 9, 2018, weather permitting. The alternate day for this work is Tuesday, July 10, 2018.

This test is required for construction work associated with the South Capitol Street Corridor Project and the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge Replacement, which calls for the replacement of the 68-year-old bridge and reconstruction of the Suitland Parkway/I-295 interchange.
