Temporary Lane Closures on U Street Begin July 16

(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to close two lanes of traffic on U St. NW between 14th Street and 17th Street and restrict curbside parking starting Monday July 16, weather permitting. At least one lane will be open to the traffic in each direction.

The closures and restrictions are needed for construction work, which includes milling and paving.

The contractor is authorized to work weekdays during the daytime from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm and Saturdays from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Signs will be posted at least 72 hours in advance at locations where parking will be restricted. These signs will notify the duration and dates of “No Parking” and provide contact information of the engineer in charge.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate moderate delays due to the lane closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the work zone.
