Lane Closure at Calvert St NW begins July 17

(Washington, DC) — The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on Calvert Street NW for sidewalk repairs beginning July 17 through July 30, weather permitting.

The lane closures are necessary as DDOT continues its bridge preservation activities on the Calvert Street Bridge over Rock Creek and the Rock Creek Parkway.  Repairs will take place between the hours of 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday through Saturday.

The construction activities will require some partial and some full closures of the existing sidewalk area. For partial closures, a six foot wide sidewalk area will be maintained for pedestrians use at all times. For full sidewalk closures, the pedestrians will be directed to the open sidewalk on the other side of the street. Sidewalk closure signs will be placed at the corners.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn drivers approaching the areas. Motorists should anticipate light delays due to the lane closures. Drivers are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and to be observant of the inspection personnel.
