On July 14, the National Park Service and Alliance to Preserve the Civil War Defenses of Washington hosted a day of activities to commemorate the 154th anniversary of the Battle of Fort Stevens, the only Civil War battle in the nation’s capital. Events included hourly musket firings, history talks, living-history demonstrations, live period music, and military and civilian re-enactors. Reader Steve Behrens captured these images.
