FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Media Contacts Terry Owens Lauren Stephens Temporary Closures on Monroe Street NE Bridge August 2, 3-7(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to temporarily close the westbound lane of Monroe Street NE at 9th Street on Thursday,August 2, 2018 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, weather permitting. This lane closure is requested by PEPCO in order to complete work related to the ongoing reconstruction of Monroe Street NE Bridge. PEPCO will have two flaggers alternating traffic on the bridge. Additionally, there will be nightly full bridge closures for motorists on Friday, August 3, 2018 until Tuesday, August 7, 2018 between 7:00 pm and 7:00 am, weather permitting. These nightly closures are necessary to complete the installation of structural steel beams. Motorists will be detoured to Michigan Avenue NE using 7th Street NE and 10th Street NE. The sidewalk will remain open to pedestrians during the lane closures. DDOT will provide flaggers and signage to guide traffic through the work zone to maintain public safety. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to stay alert when traveling through this area. ### |
