Washington, DC–United States Senator Michael D. Brown (D-DC), a member of the District of Columbia’s Congressional Delegation, will attend the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses in Des Moines, Iowa, on Monday, February 3, 2020, to advocate for DC statehood. Members of the elected Statehood Congressional Delegation will be in Iowa promoting DC statehood beginning February 1st through the 4th.
Delegation members have been working to enlighten fellow Americans about the District of Columbia’s second-class status and make it a topic of conversation in all presidential campaigns. “This, in fact, may be the first election cycle where we have a chance to get every presidential candidate to endorse DC statehood,” US Senator Michael D. Brown stated.
“As the world focuses its attention on the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses, we are going to Iowa to keep our struggle for equality on the national stage. It’s time to fulfill the promise of democracy for all Americans, including more than 718,000 loyal citizens that reside in our nation’s capital,” Senator Brown added.
The Delegation will attend various caucus events and meetings, make themselves available for interviews with local, national and international media and introduce resolutions in support of DC statehood.
