Then, in surround sound, a song reverberates through the forest. “It’s like a flute or, even, fairylike call,” says wildlife biologist Dan “Birdman” Rauch with the D.C. Department of Energy and Environment as we trek through the park on a decidedly un-May-like day in mid-January. “You don’t see the wood thrush.
