Essential workers are stretched thin, loved ones have been lost, and the way we live has changed. We walk past empty storefronts with “closed” signs hung from our favorite shops and restaurants — and feel saddened by their closure and uncertain if they will recover. Behind these signs are businesses struggling to survive, thousands of lost jobs, missed paychecks for families and bills that continue to mount. Some stores remain partially open, exhausting their remaining savings as they courageously push forward on a long, undefined and unmarked marathon.
