Press Release: DowntownDC BID Announces $1 Million Pandemic Assistance Grant Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID) is pleased to announce a new $1 Million Pandemic Assistance Grant Program. The BID’s grant program is designed to supplement federal and DC government grant programs by providing grants to those DowntownDC BID small businesses and organizations that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The BID’s grant program offers grants ranging from $5,000 up to $15,000. Eligibility and award amounts will be determined by several factors including location within the DowntownDC BID area, operating status as a restaurant or other eligible retail business, and demonstrable revenue declines of over 25% due to the pandemic. The funds can be used for payroll, rent, mortgage payments and other overhead.
“DowntownDC businesses have endured unprecedented challenges resulting from the coronavirus pandemic,” said President and CEO of the DowntownDC BID, Neil Albert. “We are doing our small part as an organization to support the many businesses that have been impacted by the pandemic.”
Applications for the DowntownDC BID’s $1 Million Pandemic Assistance Grant Program will open on Thursday, Jan. 14 and close Thursday, Jan. 28. Grant notification will begin on Friday, Jan. 29 and grant disbursement will begin in early February upon receipt of selected applicant disbursement information.
