On-Demand Transportation to Shelter is Available By Calling 202-399-7093 or 311

(WASHINGTON, DC) – With a Hypothermia Alert in effect, Mayor Muriel Bowser is calling on residents to help keep members of our community safe by calling the Shelter Hotline if you see a resident experiencing homelessness who is outside and in need of shelter from the cold. You can request transportation for yourself of someone else by calling the Shelter Hotline at 202-399-7093 or by dialing 311. If you believe there is an immediate medical emergency, call 911.

All low-barrier and seasonal shelters are open 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures tonight are expected to fall towards the mid to upper 20’s, remaining dry with wind chill values in the upper teens. Winds are expected to keep it blustery and cold overnight. The Department of Human Services and the District’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency will keep the Hypothermia Alert on until further notice.
