(Washington DC) – Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced the extension of the public comment period until Friday, June 25, 2021 for the proposed service recommendations featured in the DC Circulator 2020 Transit Development Plan (TDP).

“DC Circulator is one of the best ways for residents to travel around the District,” said DDOT Acting Director Everett Lott. “The extension of the comment period will give the public an opportunity to shape the way this vital transit system operates so it best serves District residents and visitors.”

The TDP guides the future growth of the DC Circulator system and is updated every three years. As part of the 2020 update, DDOT is proposing a new Ward 7 route, which will provide a unique east/west connection between Ward 6 and Ward 7, supplementing the existing WMATA Route 97 service that only operates during peak hours. The proposed DC Circulator route will serve Deanwood, Benning Road, Stadium Armory, and Union Station Metrorail stations and impact thousands of Ward 7 residents. DDOT is also proposing improvements to the current DC Circulator service and an extension of the Dupont Circle–Rosslyn (RS-DP) route to U Street NW. Feedback on the proposed service changes help to ensure better access to transit for residents.

The new deadline on community input on the 2020 TDP is 11:59 PM ET on June 25, 2021. Residents should visit DCCirculator.com/TDP2020 to provide feedback. Once the comment period closes, DDOT will host a public hearing later this summer based on the final proposed route, in accordance with local and federal policy requirements.
