I was one of the first people evicted in DC. I had every penny lined up for my rental property to receive. But a judge denied my tenancy, despite having lived there for 2 years, because I was sub leasing the apartment from my then gf’s aunt. Now I’m homeless. I’m originally from NYC but have been a DC resident for 5 years. I don’t have much support here, if any at all, and it seems like transitional housing is non existent here. Either you have some where of your own to live, or you sleep in the streets or a shelter. I thought the Nation’s capital would do better.
