(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the Bowser Administration reminds District families with children in pre-K through Grade 8 they have until March 1 to submit applications for the My School DC Lottery, the District’s common lottery system for DC Public Schools (DCPS) and public charter schools. Families interested in enrolling their children in a new school for school year 2022-23, including any pre-K programs through DCPS; DCPS schools outside their boundary or feeder pattern, including DCPS citywide schools; and public charter schools should log on to MySchoolDC.org and enter their choices – as many as 12 – and rank their preferences in order.

The My School DC common lottery is a single, random lottery that determines placement for new students at all participating schools. Student-school matches are based on the number of available spaces at each school; sibling, in-boundary, and other lottery preferences; how each student ranked their school choices; and each student’s random lottery number.

Families who missed the lottery application deadline of February 1, 2022 for grades 9 through 12 can submit a post-lottery application. Post-lottery applicants are added to schools’ waitlists below lottery applicants. Lottery results for pre-K 3 through Grade 12 will be available online April 1. Families will receive their results by email and mail and can log in to their My School DC accounts to check results and current waitlist positions.
