Charles “Shorty Corleone” Garris was born in Ward 8, and although his talents have taken him far, supporting the local community is still his priority. The D.C. business owner famously performed as one of the vocalists of go-go band Rare Essence and co-hosts Sirius XM show “Crank Radio.” But he’s also run a production company of his own out of Anacostia for the better part of a decade.
