Councilmember Jack Evans and NC State Senator Nickel wager local goods on the outcome of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs
Washington, D.C. – On Thursday night, the 2018 Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals head back to the playoffs to defend their title. The first place CAPS will face off against the fourth place Carolina Hurricanes at the Capital One Arena in Downtown Washington, D.C.
Councilmember Evans placed a friendly wager on the outcome of the first playoff round with State Senator Wiley Nickel who represents North Carolina’s 16th District and PNC Arena, the home of the Carolina Hurricanes.
“The CAPS are back in the playoffs and begin the series at home. There’s no doubt that they’ll skate to victory over the Hurricanes,” said Councilmember Evans. “DC is a proud hockey city, and everyone will see that when Downtown and the Capital One Arena is flooded with fans who #RocktheRed. I’m looking forward to a fantastic and exciting series.”
Senator Nickel will wager Cheez-Its which are produced in Cary, NC. Councilmember Evans will wager chili dogs from the DC famous Ben’s Chili Bowl.
The Washington Capitals clinched the Metropolitan Division in a regular season game against the Hurricanes. The CAPS’ record against the Hurricanes in the ’18-’19 season is 4-0.
