(Washington, DC)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the east side (northbound) sidewalk on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, South Capitol St, SE, from Anacostia Drive to Potomac Avenue, SE on or about Thursday, August 15, 2019 for an extended period.

A marked detour will be provided via the west side (southbound) sidewalk on the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, South Capitol St, SE as shown below.

This closure is required for construction activities associated with the South Capitol Street Corridor Project which includes construction of the New Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge and the reconstruction of the I-295/Suitland Parkway interchange.

Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to stay alert and follow signage when traveling through this area.
