RAMW Announces 2018 Honorary Milestone RAMMY Award
Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place Recognized for 30 Years in Business
Washington, DC (June 4, 2018)—Tony and Joe’s, a family-oriented DC restaurant celebrating over 30 years on the Georgetown Waterfront, will receive the 2018 Honorary Milestone RAMMY Award from Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW). Honoring longstanding local restaurants and RAMW members who have been in business for an extended period, the honorary milestone award is bestowed onto only the Washington region’s most prestigious dining institutions and will be formally dedicated at the2018 RAMMY Awards Gala on Sunday, June 10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
Situated on the banks of the Potomac River in The Washington Harbour, family owned and operated Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place has been serving the freshest seafood and steaks for thirty years. The floor to ceiling windows in the dining room and outdoor riverside patio offer sweeping views of the Potomac River, Kennedy Center, Roosevelt Island, and Washington Harbor fountains. Tony and Joe’s patio bar has become a seasonal tradition to visit for locals and tourists alike to enjoy people watching, sunsets, biking, and more.
“Restaurants have become one of our city’s greatest assets and Tony and Joe’s is no exception,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “I am thrilled to present the Honorary Milestone Award at The RAMMYS this year, to such a long-standing Georgetown landmark, highlighting the exceptional service and sense of community the restaurant has brought to Washington, and Tony and Joe’s is chief among them.”
As a native Washingtonian, Tony Cibel was born into the business world and decided to create a legacy of his own in what he called the ‘social business’—restaurants. Tony and Joe’s has proven its longstanding commitment to bring local seafood and a vibrant family atmosphere over the last 30 years, and welcomed in the most notable celebrities, politicians, and athletes in the DC area and beyond. Some notable names include Alex Ovechkin from the Washington Capitals, Eddie Murphy, and Senator Bob Dole.
Not only has Tony helped the Washington community over the years, he has also help jumpstart the careers for a wide number of his staff. Tony has worked with numerous chefs over the years including David Stein, Ron Goodman, and Damien Salvatore. What makes Tony and Joe’s so successful is its family approach to the employees – treating everyone as if they were a part of the original family.
Tony and Joe’s has remained a so-called classic in the Washington community by providing a sense of togetherness and community while dining as well as prioritizing service and loyalty. It was Tony’s mission to focus on what he does best, “building a fun restaurant one customer at a time.” With personal attention to the small details, Tony Cibel made Tony and Joe’s the restaurant it is today.
Tony and Joe’s is one of numerous restaurants recognized annually at the RAMMY Awards, an anticipated awards ceremony hosted by Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington every summer in Washington. It was first awarded in 2008 to Ben’s Chili Bowl and other past honorees include Billy Martin’s Tavern, The Monocle on Capitol Hill, Tune Inn, Clyde’s of Georgetown, and Occidental Grill & Seafood. All RAMMYS finalists and honorees will receive their formal awards during the RAMMY Awards on June 10.
