WASHINGTON, DC — In response to mounting evidence that DC Councilmember Jack Evans committed serious ethical violations and abused the public’s trust as an elected official in the District of Columbia, the DC Democratic Party passed a resolution urging Evans to step down as the Party’s National Committeeman during its general body meeting on Thursday, December 5, 2019. The resolution, proposed by Ward 6 Committeewoman Wendy Cronin and seconded by Ward 3 Committeeman Beau Finley, passed overwhelmingly by voice vote.

Chairman Charles Wilson released the following statement in response to the resolution’s passing:

“We do not take joy in this outcome. However, considering the serious allegations levied against Councilmember Evans, I am calling on him to resign his National Committeeman post immediately to avoid further distractions to the Party. I know the Councilmember will do the right thing and step down to focus on his career and family.”
