(Washington, DC) – Today, the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced that shared dockless scooter operators with a 2019 Public Right-of-Way Occupancy Permit will continue operations through Tuesday, March 31, 2020, to ensure continued access to shared mobility options for residents and visitors while DDOT considers appeals to the permit awards for the 2020 shared dockless vehicle program.
Dockless scooter companies operating during the extension period must adhere to the 2019 terms and conditions and existing fleet size minimums and maximums. The dockless bike operators permitted to operate in the 2020 program will begin operations on January 1, 2020 as planned.
Companies that applied and were not granted a permit to operate in the 2020 shared dockless vehicle program may request an appeal of DDOT’s evaluation of its application. DDOT will consider all valid appeals submitted in writing no later than January 2, 2020. DDOT will issue final decisions by Friday, February 28, 2020.
