Washington, DC (April 14, 2020) – DC Vote, a national education and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening and securing equality for all who call DC home, was joined today by more than 100 national and regional organizations on a letter to President Trump and Congressional Leadership calling for the Federal Government to treat DC equal to the states in coronavirus relief funding.

“It is outrageous that more than 700,000 Americans are treated unequally solely based on our zip code.” said Bo Shuff, Executive Director, DC Vote.  “The Federal Government treats Washington, DC as a state in almost all federal funding formulas, yet now we have lost out on resources needed to survive and recover from the pandemic and the downturn in the economy. It’s time for DC to be treated just like everyone else.”
