LinkLinksOpinion Ramona Edelin in The Post: The coronavirus crisis shines light on educational inequalities By Editor On May 1, 2020 Last updated May 1, 2020 17 Share As the District confronts the coronavirus crisis, our education of our children has not been immune. Traditional public schools will remain closed until May 29, the end of the school year, and charter schools, educating half of District public school students, will set their own closing dates. The school closures increase the already high price paid by D.C. residents. When added to lost jobs, shuttered businesses, increased need for government assistance and mounting cases of infections and fatalities, the pandemic is taking a toll. Sadly, however, this is spread unevenly, as the most vulnerable are paying the highest price thanks to entrenched inequalities. 17 Share FacebookTwitterReddItWhatsAppEmailPrint
