The DC Board of Elections has received 81,784 mail-in ballots so far — which amounts to just over a quarter of the total turnout in the District’s 2016 general election. About two-thirds of those were returned via the city’s 55 ballot drop boxes, with the remainder sent through the U.S. Postal Service, according to a tally on the board’s website.
