South Capitol Street Bridge – Temporary Lane Closures for the Week of August 6

(Washington, DC)—The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes and shoulders on the following roadways to perform construction activities for the South Capitol Street Corridor Project.

The following single lane, ramp, and shoulder closures will be in place daily from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, through Saturday, August 11, 2018, weather permitting.

·         Potomac Avenue SE/SW between First Street, SE and Second Street,
SW

·         Q Street, SW between South Capitol Street, SW and Half Street, SW

·         Half Street, SW between P Street, SW and R Street, SW

·         P Street, SW between South Capitol Street, SW and Half Street, SW

·         South Capitol Street, SE/SW between Firth Sterling Avenue, SE and N Street,
SE

·         I-295 northbound/southbound between and Malcolm X Avenue, SE and

          11th Street, SE

·         Suitland Parkway, SE between Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE and
South Capitol Street, SE

·         Firth Sterling Avenue, SE between South Capitol Street, SE and
Howard Road, SE

·         Eaton Road, SE between Firth Sterling Avenue, SE and Wade Road, SE

The following single lane, ramp, and shoulder closures will be in place nightly from 9:00 pm to 5.00 am, Monday, August 6, 2018, through Thursday, August 09, 2018, weather permitting.

·         I-295 northbound/southbound between and Malcolm X Avenue, SE and
11th Street, SE

·         South Capitol Street, SE/SW between Firth Sterling Avenue, SE and
N Street, SE

·         P Street, SW between South Capitol Street, SW and Half Street, SW

·         Potomac Avenue SE/SW between First Street, SE and Second Street, SW

·         Q Street, SW between South Capitol Street, SW and Half Street, SW

·         Half Street, SW between P Street, SW and R Street, SW

·         Suitland Parkway, SE between Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE and
South Capitol Street, SE

·         Firth Sterling Avenue, SE between South Capitol Street, SE and
Howard Road, SE

·         Eaton Road, SE between Firth Sterling Avenue, SE and Wade Road, SE

·         Off Ramp to westbound Suitland Parkway, SE from I-295 northbound.
Signed detour will be in place for closure. (Exit 3B)

·         Off Ramp to eastbound Suitland Parkway, SE from I-295 southbound.
Signed detour will be in place for closure. (Exit 4A)

These closures are required for construction activities associated with the South Capitol Street Corridor Project and the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge Replacement which calls for the replacement of the 68-year-old bridge and reconstruction of the Suitland Parkway/I-295 interchange.

Motorists are urged to use caution as they travel in these areas, to anticipate moderate delays, and to be mindful construction personnel.
