(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) announced the 2021 EdFEST, DC’s annual public school fair, will be held virtually on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
“We are excited to host our annual citywide event for families to engage directly and meaningfully with our wonderful schools from across the District,” said Acting State Superintendent Christina Grant. “With the launch of the public school lottery application on Dec. 13, 2021 for the 2022-23 school year, EdFEST is a timely event to help families make informed choices.”
The easy-to-use virtual platform will be familiar to the students and families who attended the event last year. Using an internet-connected device, students and families can log in and explore the city’s many public school options (pre-K 3 – Grade 12), get their questions answered directly by school representatives via video or chat, and learn about the public school lottery.
Attendance is free. Language interpretation support is also free and provided in Spanish (Español), Amharic (አማርኛ፤), French (Français), Chinese (中文), Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt) and American Sign Language (ASL). Families can register today here. Registrants will receive an email with instructions about how to log in and navigate the virtual platform.
My School DC has hosted EdFEST annually since 2014. Every December, thousands of families have had the opportunity to explore more than 200 schools and student and family support organizations, such as the DC ReEngagement Center (REC) and Strong Start.
Families who need support registering for the event or navigating the lottery process are encouraged to call the My School DC Hotline at (202) 888-6336, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The My School DC team, schools and partners are excited and ready to meet with families on Dec. 11.
