Events D.C., the District’s official convention and sports authority, has approved a 35,000-square-foot retail and entertainment space and potential sportsbook at Nationals Park, as the city prepares for legalized sports betting.

Sports bettors will soon be able to place wagers in the same building where D.C.'s professional basketball and hockey teams play their home games. 

Monumental Sports owner Ted Leonsis said Wednesday he hopes there will be a sports betting location on the Capital One Arena grounds.

The Greene Turtle, a chain sports bar in Capital One Arena that’s the quickest bar to funnel into for a post-game beer, announced it will close next month after accepting a lease buyout offer from Monumental Sports & Entertainment.

The Capital One Arena will soon welcome a new concept in the prime retail space on the Sixth and F street NW corner.

The Greene Turtle at Capital One Arena is closing to make way for a mystery project from venue owner Monumental Sports & Entertainment.

The Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grill’s Capital One Arena location is set to close next month.
