The director of a preschool ensnared in multiple D.C. government investigations and a lawsuit has been placed on administrative leave amid allegations that a teacher at the school sexually abused toddlers.

The D.C. attorney general has opened an investigation into the preschool at Washington Hebrew Congregation amid allegations that toddlers were sexually abused by a staff member on the Northwest Washington campus.

State-funded preschools across the country educate only a fraction of three- and four-year-olds. And to get even half the number of eligible kids into such programs could take a long, long time — possibly even an entire century.
