Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway

A portion of Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway that had been shutdown due to repair work since Thursday reopened Sunday evening after crews finished their work nearly 36 hours ahead of schedule, the Kennedy Center said in statement.

The section will close to all traffic starting Thursday, to allow for the installation of a new pedestrian bridge that will connect the arts center to the riverfront.

Part of Rock Creek Parkway will be closed for all of Friday and Monday’s rush hours, as well as the weekend.

A busy stretch of Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway, near the Kennedy Center, will close to all traffic this weekend and is likely to create significant backups and detours for drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians.

As commuters complain about potholes, the National Park Service believes it has less than half the money it would need to fix key routes like the George Washington Parkway, Baltimore-Washington Parkway and Rock Creek Parkway.
