Chip Py in The Post: The privilege of photographing D.C.’s official music

It was November 2011, and the “Godfather of Go-Go,” Chuck Brown, and his band chartered a tour bus to go to the Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, Va., to open a show for George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. I had been photographing Brown, his band and the many other go-go bands that played nightly around D.C. and its suburbs for a little more than a year. I looked at the three-hour bus ride to Hampton as a chance to chat with Brown.
