(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the Bowser Administration and the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced it will host the championships and closing ceremony for the first DC Embassy World
The DC Embassy World Cup Final will kick off at 6:00 p.m. with a third place match between France and Brazil. The championship game, featuring Argentina vs. Serbia, will take place at 7:15 p.m. Following the match, a closing ceremony with a National Flags Parade and Awards Ceremony will take place at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Fans at the event will get to meet and greet Zabivaka, the official mascot of the Russia 2018 World Cup. Attendees are encouraged to wear national teams’ jerseys.
Embracing the excitement surrounding the 2018 World Cup, 16 embassies out of the 32 countries that participated in this year’s World Cup participated in DPR’s DC Embassy World Cup. The 16 teams played a 40-game tournament in a 7-vs-7 format in the spirit of FIFA’s Fair Play. The tournament took place from June 17, 2018 – July 12, 2018.
Embassies represented include Russia, Uruguay, Germany, Mexico, Belgium, Panama, England, Colombia, France, Australia, Peru, Denmark, Serbia, Brazil, Switzerland, and Argentina
