DDOT Announces Intent to Award Contract for DC Circulator
Proposed Contract submitted to DC Council for approval
(Washington, DC) — The Bowser Administration has submitted a proposed contract award to the Council of the District of Columbia for RATP Dev for the day-to-day Operations and Maintenance of the DC Circulator system. The proposed multi-year contract includes a five-year base period and three option periods of five years each.
The proposed agreement marks the first time District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will have direct oversight of the DC Circulator since the service launched in 2005, and builds on the District’s efforts to improve service quality and reliability, highlighted by the recent purchase of 40 new buses including the largest fleet of electric buses on the east coast.
“DDOT has worked proactively to improve the performance of the DC Circulator as well as the customer experience,” said DDOT Director Jeff Marootian. “Assuming management oversight is the next major step of continuing our efforts to deliver quality service and at the same time improve opportunities for DC Circulator personnel.
Under the proposed agreement, RATP Dev will be responsible for operating the six Circulator routes and maintenance of the 72-bus fleet.
The proposed District-led contract requires the offeror to abide by the Service Contract Act and comply with the U. S. Department of Labor Wage Determination occupation codes, job titles, and wage rates.
RATP Dev, the contractor selected for the award, has managed and operated transit systems throughout the U.S. since 1972, and today supports 40 cities and communities throughout North America.
